Franck Maës was born in Brazzaville in 1962. He spent his childhood and part of his adolescence successively in Congo, Cameroon and Kenya.
The return to France is difficult. After his studies, he was just nineteen years old when he returned to Africa to become a safari guide, a profession he still pursues today.
His Maasai friends have always nicknamed him "Mbwa Mwitu" which means "the wild dog". It is this nickname that inspired his signature.
This quarter of a century spent in the bush rubbing shoulders with wildlife and the Maassai whose language he speaks has left an indelible mark on Franck Maës.
Through his paintings, he testifies and seeks to share his passion for these superb animals and these tribes with customs that have remained authentic.
After a first collection for sale, painted in oil with three different colors only, Franck discovered acrylic painting and embarked on a new adventure since 2011, thanks to a friend who knew his watercolors and had ordered a very colorful painting.
