"Rara 3 congas" *** 40 x 50 cm ***

He was born in Cap Haitien on April 24, 1965. His father, a farmer, also made clairin, the artisanal rum, near Milot, a village that shelters the ruins of what was the palace of Sans -Souci, the "Haitian Versailles" of King Henry Christophe.

Jean-Claude Blanc studied in high school, then began his professional life as a mechanic, before joining the workshop "L'Arc en Ciel" where he began working on watercolor. At the beginning of 1983, he sold his first work...

He now lives in Port au Prince and lives from his art...

Jean-Claude Blanc's works have been phenomenally successful in Haiti in recent years, probably because better than any other, the artist strives to translate with stubborn optimism the festive character of Haitian society. Market scenes, carnival, "rara" procession of Mardi Gras, peasants at work in provincial plantations... Blanc, totally in the tradition of the "modern primitives" who made the reputation of Haitian painting, strives to describe the realities of the country in a style that makes the detail and precision of the drawing one of the characteristic signs of his work.
